Tenerife
Seemingly wherever one goes in Tenerife, the view seems to be dominated by Mount Teide. The landscape is incredible. Black volcanic ash with luminous green fir trees. Multicoloured volcanic mountain sides. Misty cloud forests dripping with Atlantic Ocean. Incredible lava caves like burrows from some long lost prehistoric creature.
Tenerife also boasts fantastic food; leave enough room in your suitcase for gathered supplies and samples
It's only when one descends and travels along the coastline and sees the absolutely hideous tourist hotel complexes that one realises just how much more there is to Tenerife than a typical beach holiday. It's a great place and definitely one I would like to return to for deeper exploration.
